Hampi: Ruins in the Boulders — Guides, Itineraries & Tour Packages

Hampi is a UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for the spectacular ruins of Vijayanagara, set among giant granite boulders beside the Tungabhadra River. It suits history enthusiasts, photographers, architecture lovers, backpackers and families who enjoy exploring outdoors. October marks the start of the more comfortable travel season, although afternoons remain warm and occasional rain is possible. Most travellers reach Hampi via Hosapete, the main gateway town, by train or road; the ruins are about 13 km from Hosapete. The nearest airport is Jindal Vijaynagar Airport near Toranagallu.
